”We participated the Project Aces with the aim of exploiting the students’ fresh ideas. The objectives of the project were fully met, and the editors have been pleased with the results.”
Salla Lehto, Research Manager at newspaper Turun Sanomat
What is the Project Aces?
Project Aces is a working life simulation for the students of the higher education institutions in Turku. The students execute projects in multidisciplinary, and international, teams of 3-5 students. One team has one project. The team has two months to execute the project. Each student has 135 hours to use.
The programme offers students a chance to learn project management and team work skills through client projects. For clients it offers a chance to get an out-of-the-box view for development challenges and new ideas to take things further.
Answers to practical questions
What project?
Projects should be genuine development tasks, that benefit the business or organisation in question. Students sign a non-disclosure agreement. The project is a learning experience for students and it’s good to keep in mind that they are not employees.
To whom?
Businesses, public sector organisations and NGOs can be clients for the Project Aces.
What is required?
The client should have a contact person for the project team. The contact person should reserve adequatly time to introduce the students to the project and to support their work. This ensures high quality of project results. The students execute the project farely independently. Also, the university career services offer coaching for teams to tackle project management and team work issues during the programme.
The Schedule
Project Aces is not organized in 2021. University Partner brings students and projects together.
